Quick answer: CR7 Drive is a carbohydrate-electrolyte drink developed with Cristiano Ronaldo, designed to be consumed during prolonged exercise. The electrolytes enhance fluid absorption while the carbohydrates help maintain endurance performance — something plain water cannot do on sessions over an hour.
What makes it different from water?
When you sweat, you lose more than water — you lose electrolytes, and your muscles burn through carbohydrate. Water replaces only the first. CR7 Drive is a hypotonic formula that replaces fluids and electrolytes efficiently while topping up carbohydrates, which is why it belongs in your bottle for football matches, long runs, rides and any session beyond 60 minutes.
Canister or sachets?
The 540 g canister is the economical choice for regular training at home or the gym. The single-serve sachets live in your kit bag — tear, shake, drink — perfect for match days and travel.
When to drink it
Start sipping in the first 15 minutes of exercise and keep sipping regularly rather than gulping at the end. For sessions under an hour at moderate intensity, water is usually enough; CR7 Drive earns its place as duration and intensity climb. Afterwards, recovery is a separate job — see our guide to Rebuild Strength vs Rebuild Endurance.
